
1. Only Bluegrass and Old-Time music will be permitted in the competition.
2. No electrical instruments will be permitted in the competition except for electric bass. Electric bass will not be judged and will not go against the rest of the band in competition.
3. A band must consist of no less than three and no more than seven members.
4. Each band will be allowed two (2) numbers in which the group will be judged in all categories as they perform.
5. All single entries will perform only one tune and can only be backed up by one accompanist.
6. Single entries will be permitted only for those musicians not associated with or having entered as part of a band. Violators of this will be disqualified.
7. No alcoholic beverages, drugs or profanity will be tolerated at this event.
8. Registered contestants will pay at the gate and be refunded after their stage performance.
9. No musician shall compete with more than one instrument nor compete with more than one band, except as an accompanist in singles competition.
10. Bands must register by band name. When registering, you must fill out the whole form including an address of band leader & phone number for record keeping.
11. Once a band has registered, please stay together as a group, so the lions club staff can find you easily when it is time for you to perform.
12. The decision of the judges are final.
13. The Mocksville Lions Club, Masonic Lodges and the Town of Mocksville is not responsible for personal injuries as well as lost or stolen items !!!
14. Any individual or band that has been given a recording contract by a professional recording studio (ie) Rounder Records or Sugar Hill etc. will not be eligible to compete for the cash prizes or ribbons. This competition is held for amateur individuals and bands only.
15. Any band or individual who won 1st place in any category at the Mocksville Old-Time Fiddlers & Bluegrass Convention in 2003, will not be eligible to compete in 2004 for the top spot in the category that they placed first place in 2003. This is to give all bands and individuals a chance at competing for the top spots in each category. However, bands may compete at the convention again if there has been a major change in members or makeup of the band. Individuals can compete for the top spot the following year with a different instrument. Bands & Individuals can compete every other year for the top spot in any category.
